Meet Ariela (Relly) Schwartz-Zur, executive director of Yad LaKashish - A Jerusalem non-profit at the forefront of social and financial advocacy for the elderly. Relly will take us on a virtual tour into the facilities of Yad Lakashish to share the work they do in finding appreciation for the elderly and their artistic capabilities whilst more importantly, modeling positive aging.

Yad LaKashish is a Jerusalem nonprofit empowering low income elderly through meaningful work opportunities, essential social and financial benefits as well as promoting positive attitudes towards seniors through inter-generational connections.

Since 1962, Yad LaKashish has provided creative work opportunities for thousands of Jerusalem’s most deserving elderly residents. In addition to a monthly stipend, Yad LaKashish participants are entitled to a comprehensive package of social and financial benefits, including an unlimited monthly bus pass, a daily communal and nutritious meal, and access to dental care subsidies. The elderly at Yad LaKashish, many of whom do not have nearby family, also gain a sense of community and belonging.

Ariela (Relly) Schwartz-Zur, holds an M.A. in Political Science from Tel-Aviv University as well as a teaching certificate. She served in the Army as an officer. Over the years, she has been involved in social and educational fields to promote underprivileged populations. Mrs. Schwartz-Zur has been involved with Yad LaKashish since 2001 holding various positions, the last as Deputy CEO, and was appointed Executive Director in December 2017. She lives in Jerusalem with her husband and two children.
