Daniel Chertoff worked in the investment industry in both the United States and Israel. He was an analyst at Sanford Bernstein where he followed the computer industry. He and his family moved to Israel in 1988 where he followed Israeli high tech and helped bring a number of companies public in the US. Daniel was a venture capitalist and financial communications counsel to many publicly-traded Israeli high-tech companies. Daniel retired early to study English literature at Hebrew University and was happily writing his doctoral dissertation when he discovered his father’s letters. He is still involved in academia and is an associate editor of Partial Answers, an academic journal of literature and the history of ideas.

Mordecai Chertoff came to Palestine in 1947 as a twenty-five-year-old, determined to make his contribution to the emerging Jewish state.
