Join us Sunday morning after Shacharit in the Left Hand Social Hall, for breakfast at 9:15am followed by a Book Talk at 9:45am with Rabbi Paul Plotkin who will speak about his new book titled Wisdom Grows in My Garden.
Rabbi Paul Plotkin was born and raised in Toronto, Canada and has lived in South Florida for over four decades. He served as a pulpit rabbi for forty years and is the author of The Lord Is My Shepherd, Why Do I Still Want? a book about healing after suffering personal loss.
He has published articles in national magazines, hosted a cable TV show that appeared in ninety markets, and currently writes a blog.
He started gardening to complement his love of cooking and eating and discovered a wealth of life lessons in the process, as well as joy of tasting a tomato that tasted like a tomato.
Who knew a garden could be so smart?
Rabbi Plotkin is approaching middle age. His children are self-sufficient teens, and his large congregation is running efficiently and effectively. He should be happy and satisfied at where he is in life, yet he knows something is missing.
He used to wake up to anxiety and long to-do lists. Now he wakes up concerned about his zucchinis. The change baffles him until he realizes he has a need to nurture, and right now the zucchinis are the only things that really need him. This is the first of many life lessons the garden teaches him about himself and the world around him.
Copies of Rabbi Plotkin's book will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.
