Rabbi Dr. Benjamin “Benny” Lau, is the Rabbi of Jerusalem’s modern Orthodox Ramban Synagogue, senior lecturer at Beit Morasha of Jerusalem’s Beit Midrash for Women and Advanced Halakha Program, founder of the Beit Midrash for Social Justice, and head of the Human Rights and Judaism in Action project of the Israeli Democracy Institute. “Rav Benny,” as he is known by students, recently launched an initiative called "929: Tanakh B’Yachad" where Israelis study one chapter of Tanakh a day. His prolific writings focus on Jewish philosophy, issues of Halakhah and society, and the connection between Biblical, Mishnaic, and Talmudic sources and contemporary social and political realities. |
