Lisa Baer was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and lived there until 1940 when she immigrated with her mother and two sisters to the United States. She settled in Washington Heights and lived there until she moved with her husband Manfred to Riverdale.
She went to trade school and learned dressmaking and worked making custom-made clothes for a number of years. Eventually, she worked for the Board of Jewish Education as an arts and crafts teacher, teaching in Hebrew schools as well as various Yeshivot.
Dedicated by Charles Salomon and family in memory of his beloved wife, Dr. Joan Long Salomon z”l, a member of our congregation, who dedicated herself and her gifts to Holocaust research, both here and abroad, writing, speaking, and creating memorialization, while building bridges for future generations.
