A Home for All

The Bayit welcomes all persons, regardless of religious or Jewish knowledge and regardless of their physical abilities. We were a pioneer in incorporating ramps into the initial design of our Sanctuary to ensure equal access to the Aron Kodesh (Ark) and Bimah (Readers Table) and continue to welcome and support those with physical or developmental challenges.
From Youth Groups to JYEP programs, to special programming for adults in group homes in the Riverdale area, and our annual Yachad Shabbaton, our lives are improved when we learn from and engage with our Special Friends

Press Release February 7, 2014

We are thrilled to announce that the Bayit has been selected as the sole recipient of a $10,000 award for the UJA Federation of New York Synagogue Inclusion Ignition Grant. This award reflects the Bayit's ongoing dedication to inclusion as a key value sustaining our community. Instrumental in writing the grant was our Director of Youth Education & Programming, Menachem Menchel, with the help of the Bayit team. The grant proposed a model of inclusion that will use creative arts as a platform for engagement of all Riverdale youth, with disabilities and without. We envision programming with music, theater and arts & crafts to explore ideas of the Torah portion, holidays and liturgical prayers and are excited for a space designed for inclusion and support. We plan to launch in the spring. If you or anyone you know is interested in this program, please contact Menachem by email at
