Please join us this Shabbat Parshat Pekudei as we welcome Rabbi Aaron Leibowitz to our Bayit.
Rabbi Aaron Leibowitz is the Director of the Rabbanut Yisraelit rabbinic training program and network at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. In 2012 he founded 'Hashgacha Pratit', an organization that broke the monopoly of the Israeli Chief Rabbinate over kosher supervision, and in 2018 he launched the 'Chuppot' initiative to challenge the monopoly by providing Orthodox weddings independent of the Rabbanut. Ordained by Rabbi Shlomo Riskin and Rabbi Chaim Brovender in 1996 he currently serves as the Rabbi of the Vaani Tefila community in the Nachlaot neighborhood of Jerusalem, where he lives with his wife Miriam and their five children. Rav Aharon served as a Jerusalem City Council member from 2015 to 2018, representing the pluralistic Yerushalmim party, and holding the education portfolio.
