5) Closing Message
Happy Lag BaOmer! Why do we light bonfires on Lag BaOmer? We are taught that this commemorates the power of the Torah – the light of Torah – that Rabbi Shimon bar Yohai brought into the world. What I love about this teaching is what it suggests to us about the power of the individual. We don't light a candle, or even a torch, but a bonfire – an enormous flame – to suggest to us that one person has the capacity to illuminate the world with Torah, kindness and warmth. May it be a Lag BaOmer in which we find our bonfire of Torah and kindness to illuminate a too-dark time and bring it to flame, to help make the world warmer, more loving and more bright. Hag sameah!   (You can see this closing message in video format here.)
Reminder to all to take good care of ourselves and each other.  Try to do something specific today that strengthens you, and something else that strengthens someone else.
May it be a good day,
Rav Steven, Rav Ezra, Rabbanit Bracha, Rabba Sara and Rav Avi
