Donate a Tallit - and Support HFBA
Due to the current pandemic and the increased number of Jewish people who have passed away in recent weeks, the Chevra Kadisha of Queens and Long Island and the Hebrew Free Burial Society are in great need of tallitot for burial.  If you or anyone you know has an old or unused tallit that you can donate to this incredible mitzvah of honoring the deceased, please email as soon as possible and she will arrange for its transport to those who need.  You can support HFBA's work, more than four times its usual volume providing burials for the needy and indigent, here.

4) Closing Message
Our parashah opens with a surprising double use of the verb emor - to speak.  "Emor el hakohanim bnei aharon, v'amarta aleihem..." - "speak to the Kohanim, the sons of Aaron, and speak/say to them...".  The Kli Yakar suggests that Moshe first was mandated to convey the laws that followed to Aaron's sons by virtue of their being Aaron's sons - the simple hereditary line, without respect to who they were as people, as servants of God.  But God goes on to say, speak to them - just them, as people, for who they are.  In this pandemic, we have been speaking to people - perhaps someone we have volunteered to call, perhaps a neighbor or friend or loved one because of that relationship and the duty it generates.  I hope that over time, the relationship has taken on a life and meaning of its own, just for who that person is.  May we find all our relationships of value simply because of who the other person is - and hold on to them as we march forward. (You can see this closing message in video format here.)
Reminder to all to take good care of ourselves and each other.  Try to do something specific today that strengthens you, and something else that strengthens someone else.
May it be a good day and a good week,
Rav Steven, Rav Ezra, Rabbanit Bracha, Rabba Sara and Rav Avi
