One of the services that we offer is to collect and bury books and papers that contain one of the unerasable names of God (Sheimot).

Before dropping off your Sheimot, please go through your Sheimot and bring only those that match the following guidelines.  Because we are charged a fee for burying these Sheimot, we try not to bury things that can otherwise be respectfully discarded.

1)  This collection is for papers or books that have one of the unerasable names of God:

י-ה-ו-ה

Yud-Hey-Vav-Hey

א-ד-נ-י

Aleph-Daled-Nun-Yud

א-ל

Aleph-Lamed

א-ל-ו-ה

Aleph-Lamed-Vav-Hey

א-ל-ה-י-ם

Aleph-Lamed-Hey-Yud-Mem

ש-ד-י

Shin-Daled-Yud

צ-ב-א-ו-ת

Tsadi-Vet-Aleph-Vav-Saf

א-היה אשר א-היה

Alef-Hey-Yod-Hey  Alef-Shin-

Reish  Alef-Hey-Yod-Hey

י-ה

Yud-Hey

2)  Please check your papers or books before depositing.  Many books and sheets don’t contain unerasable names of God.  They contain no names, or they have erasable representations of God’s name, like: ה', ד', יקוק, קל, א-ל, יי, and the like.  Any text which will no longer be used and which does not contain an unerasable name of God, regardless of whether it contains a Biblical verse, or a prayer, or a dvar Torah, or a halakhah, or anything else, may be recycled (it may not be thrown away).  Please recycle it at home.
